Sydney Children's is the smaller of two pediatric hospitals in Sydney. I'm doing some general pediatric and rheumatology clinics there for my elective in Sydney. It's about 10 minutes by bus from where we live, and 20 minutes walk to the beach at Coogee - I checked it out during a prolonged lunch break the other day. The residents are very friendly and interested to hear how things are run in Canada. They work in shifts, on average 40 hours per week if they're not on for the weekend. They're paid by the hour, and there are lots of issues about unpaid overtime. One thing that is strikingly different is the contents of the fridge in the resident's lounge... milk, juice, BEER, WINE?!? Apparently they often have drinks in the lounge after work on Fridays.
